FBI Director Kash Patel just announced the most significant drop in violent crime in nearly 90 years, and if you're waiting for CNN to lead with it, you might want to pack a lunch. The preliminary FBI crime data for 2025 shows what Patel called "the single largest decreases in violent crime and murder since 1937" — and the usual suspects in corporate media are busy covering literally anything else.
Funny how that works. A Republican president presides over historic crime reduction and the networks suddenly lose interest in public safety. Where are all the breathless chyrons now?
The numbers are staggering. According to American Wire News, the data shows 1.1 million fewer violent crimes than the year prior. Let that sink in for a second. Over a million fewer Americans victimized by violent crime in a single year. Patel didn't mince words, telling law enforcement that "these historic results are a testament to the hard work you and our partners have been doing."
He added: "Every day you are saving lives, keeping people safe." Simple. Direct. The kind of thing you'd think would make national news — if the national news hadn't already decided that Trump can't be allowed to have wins.
But the FBI isn't just collecting stats and holding press conferences. They're actually doing the job. In Minneapolis, 15 subjects were indicted for a $90 million healthcare fraud scheme that exploited 7 Medicaid programs, including autism services. That's right — they were stealing from programs meant for disabled kids. In another operation, 14 individuals were arrested for trafficking cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.
Remember when we were told the FBI was too "politicized" under new leadership to function? That was the media line when Patel took over — that he'd gut the Bureau and turn it into Trump's personal police force. Instead, violent crime hit a nearly 90-year low while the Bureau busted a $90 million fraud ring and took down a narcotics trafficking operation. Some politicization.
The contrast with the previous regime couldn't be sharper. Under the Biden administration, we watched cities burn while the FBI devoted its resources to raiding Mar-a-Lago and pursuing Jack Smith's politicized investigation of President Trump. Priorities, folks. Now the Bureau is back to catching actual criminals — murderers, drug traffickers, fraudsters — and wouldn't you know it, the crime rate cratered.
The left will never admit this, of course. They spent four years telling us that defunding the police was a "reimagining of public safety" and that rising crime was a "right-wing talking point." Now that an enforcement-first approach has produced the largest crime drop since FDR was in office, they've gone conveniently quiet.
Patel called it "the most prolific crime reduction in U.S. history." The data backs him up. And somewhere right now, a CNN producer is pitching a segment about Trump's golf game instead.
We see you. We just don't care anymore.
